This study (funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust) is a feasibility trial, looking at the effects of a brain training program on people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer’s Disease and with healthy older adults.

This study will also investigate for any clinical benefits or changes in brain blood flow as measured by ultrasound Transcranial Doppler  scan (TCD). These objectives are:

  • Are there any clinical benefits of a brain training program in patients with dementia and any difference between groups (MCI/AzD/healthy older adults) in ability to carry out everyday activities, memory, mood, and quality of life outcomes?
  • Are there any changes in blood flow responses to cognitive tasks using TCD before and after brain training?
  • Are there any brain blood flow markers that can be used to predict who will benefit from brain training, and in which memory areas to generate a personalised training plan for individual patients?
