Dear colleague
I have been your chief executive now for over a year, and I couldn’t be prouder of the compassionate, committed staff we have at LPT. Over the past year everyone has played their part in our Step up to Great journey, and continued to go above and beyond to deal with the additional challenges Covid-19 has presented us with. LPT has become a family, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
It is important to me that I continue to hear how working as part of the LPT team feels for you. One of the most effective ways I can hear from everyone at once, is through the annual NHS Staff Survey, so it is timely that the Survey has just been launched across the country to hear from our NHS workforce. You will be receiving your survey link soon via email, so you can share your views. I’m pleased to say that this year we will also be sending this survey to our bank staff, who are an invaluable part of team #WeAreLPT. The Survey, although much the same as in previous years, does have a specific section for you to share your views about how it’s felt to work through the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the time of last year’s survey, we were at the early stages of Our Future Our Way – our culture, leadership and inclusion programme being led by our change champions to make LPT the best place to work and deliver care. Your views expressed through the staff survey reflected the areas we planned to focus on, to ensure you feel engaged, involved and supported in your work. Since then, with your feedback, we’ve made a number of improvements helping us to Step up to Great.
- You have helped to co-design a new vision for our Trust – ‘Creating high quality, compassionate care and wellbeing for all’.
- You’ve contributed to the creation and launch of our quality improvement framework – WeImproveQ
- You’ve helped shape our new leadership behaviours framework – empowering everyone to be a leader at LPT and to treat each other with kindness and compassion.
- A new appraisal form has also been introduced based on your feedback to improve the quality of appraisals so that they feel more meaningful in helping you grow and develop, as well as aligning to our leadership behaviours.
- We’ve had numerous listening events with our BAME staff to shape improvements to how BAME staff experience working for LPT, and I have given my personal commitment to LPT becoming an anti-racism Trust.
These are just some of the improvements that have been informed by and introduced as a result of your feedback. I want us to continue improving, to listen and learn, and create a safe space for everybody to make a difference in this journey.
So, I want to hear from you. How are you feeling about working at LPT? What’s had an impact on you? Please complete the survey and let me know. It is run by an external agency – Quality Health. Quality Health do not share with us any individual level data, so I can give you my personal commitment that the Survey is completely confidential. The results are amalgamated at service and directorate level early next year when I will be able to share them you and continue to move forward together.
Finally, thank you again for all your hard work and commitment. You have been nothing short of phenomenal during this Covid-19 period, and as we look towards a potential new surge, I encourage you to continue to look after yourselves and each other. Your safety and your health and wellbeing remain our number one priority.
Kind regards
Angela Hillery
Chief executive LPT
