What is the DAISY Foundation?
An acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem, The DAISY Foundation was formed in November 1999, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The nursing care Patrick received when hospitalised profoundly touched his family.

What is the DAISY Award?
The DAISY Award is an internationally renowned programme that recognises nurses who demonstrate excellence in practice, are caring and compassionate and ultimately make a difference in the lives of their patient’s.
Each DAISY Award honouree will be recognised at a ceremony in their ward or department and will receive a DAISY Award pin, certificate and a hand-carved sculpture A Healer’s Touch.
Who can nominate a nurse for a DAISY Award and how?
Patients, families, carers and members of the public can nominate nurses for a DAISY Award. You can either nominate using our online nomination form below or you can ask for a paper copy at any reception area across our sites.
