The power outage at Melton Hospital has been resolved, with electricity, heating and hot water in the building restored, following a power failure this morning (Friday 1 December).
Due to the disruption caused by the power failure, patient appointments scheduled for today are still affected. Patients with appointments at Melton Hospital today should not attend unless contacted by the service to say otherwise. If your appointment has been cancelled, please wait to be contacted by your service regarding a rescheduled appointment.
Some services will continue to be impacted until further assessments are carried out, to ensure patient safety and continuity of services. These include:
- Melton Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) will be closed for the rest of the weekend. During this time patients will be relocated to Oakham.
- Services provided by University Hospitals Leicester (UHL) requiring general anaesthetic will be paused. Patients with general anaesthetic procedures on Monday are being contacted.
- UHL clinics at the St Mary’s Birthing Unit will continue but procedures are paused.
Patient safety has remained our number one priority throughout and all inpatients are being safely cared for. We will continue to liaise closely with and support them and their families.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
