Family Help / Children and Family Wellbeing service

Family Help is the new name for the Children and Family Wellbeing Service. Family Help provides targeted early help to families – and if more help is needed, the family may be given help from Child in Need services.

Family Help is an early help service for families, where they’re experiencing difficulties that can’t be supported by universal services such as schools or GPs alone.

They provide a wide range of support for children and families, such as: –

  • Support for families impacted by domestic abuse, or where any family members are involved with the Youth Justice System
  • Groups for young carers or children with special educational needs (SEND), which aim to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
  • Groups for parents of SEND children which offer personal support and support around SEND related matters.
  • Various groups and personal support, for parents of any children

Sometimes a family’s needs may be more complicated, and they might be allocated a Social Worker who can work more closely with them to help make sure their needs are being met.  This would always be explained to the family in the first instance.
