A deputy head of nursing champions patient-centred care, ensuring safety, quality and patient experience are embedded in everything we do. They lead and promote a culture of learning, sharing knowledge across wards, other services and the directorate and Trust. The deputy head of nursing also supports and delivers quality improvements.

The role is a key member of the senior directorate clinical team. The deputy head of nursing works closely with the matrons, ward sisters, charge nurses, doctors, wider clinical team, the heads of services, the business team and other nursing colleagues in Trust directorates, as well as the Executive team.

This role is for you if:
  • You have experience of a nursing leadership role and are ready to take the next step
  • You are able to advise and offer specialist advice to nurses and leadership teams
  • You are excited to lead patient and public engagement and co-production to help shape improvements across services
  • You can handle multiple workloads while role modelling professional standards, demonstrating accountability and responsibility
  • You can champion and lead change which results in better clinical practice
  • You are determined to ensure patients and service users are offered by best possible care by your service
